“We need a place where we work together and share the same values. Where we come together to exchange our thoughts. We still describe that as the office, although in the future it may be given a different name.”
Hannes Wettstein (1958-2008) completed an apprenticeship as a structural engineering draughtsman in his early career and then trained himself in design and architecture. He was fascinated by technology, art history and architecture.
Despite keeping a low profile, Wettstein’s work reaches a wide audience, with designs ranging from furniture to consumer products such as bicycles, lamps, pens, razors, and watches. His products, whilst simple and straightforward in appearance, are the result of a rigorous design process. Wettstein was always rethinking design: everyday actions, organization of rooms, the purpose of things, which lead him to create surprising solutions that stand the test of time.
